This 40 hour unit concentrates on flat frame joints and the manufacture of a Mirror Frame Stand

Bench Skills - Carcase Construction
This second 40 hour unit concentrates on carcase joints and the manufacture of a Kitchen Wall Shelving model.

Machining & Finishing
The third unit (also 40 hours) involves the production of a Wood Lathe product such as a Lamp or a small Wine Table.  The finishing is assessed over the series of models through the three units.

Course Project
At the end of the three units, students must complete a project that spans the skills across the units.  The project next year will be a wall clock.

I have no experience of craft work apart form 1st and 2nd year.  Can I choose woodworking in 5th or 6th year?

Answer:-
Yes, this set of units and course requires no other qualification for entry apart form genuine interest in woodworking even if you are not likely to follow a career related to practical work.  You may use this as a recreational activity or have a future interest in DIY.
